Series Two of the BAFTA winning comedy, the painfully accurate portrait of the modern work-place that leaves you either counting your blessings or questioning your career.

David Brent tries to assimilate the new Swindon intake, a group of well-trained and highly motivated personnel. It should be an easy job. Sadly, someone forgot to tell them they're meant to laugh at everything David says. Unlucky-in-love Tim finds his fortune changing, we discover there's more to demure Dawn than first meets the eye, but there's even less to Gareth.

Neil (Patrick Baladi) wird immer ungeduldiger mit David (Ricky Gervais), doch der kapiert gar nicht, dass er angezählt wird. Als Gareth (Mackenzie Crook) ihm aus Versehen sagt, dass seine Mitarbeiter wenig schmeichelhafte Spitznamen für ihn haben, findet er das natürlich wenig lustig, aber wichtiger ist ihm sein nahender Auftritt als Motivationsredner, für den er mit Gareth Trockenübungen macht. Zwischen Tim (Martin Freeman) und Rachel (Stacey Roca) wird es anscheinend immer ernster. Selbst der Besuch des nervtötenden Computerspezialisten Simon (Matthew Holness) kann Tims (Martin Freeman) Laune nichts Ernsthaftes anhaben. Nach Feierabend geht er mit Rachel zusammen weg, während Dawn (Lucy Davis) David als Assistentin zu seinem Auftritt begleitet. Der ist wie nicht anders zu erwarten ein Feuerwerk an Peinlichkeiten und endet damit, dass David in ohrenbetäubender Lautstärke Tina Turners "Simply the Best" abspielt und dramatisch den Saal verlässt. Bezahlt wird er erstaunlicherweise trotzdem und schiebt voller Triumphgefühl mit Ray (Tom Goodman-Hill) und Jude (Jennifer Hennessy) in den Pub ab, während Dawn allein zurückbleibt, um seine Sachen aufzuräumen.
